1. Comfort<\/h2>\n

The first priority, because it decides whether the uniform is worn properly at all. Comfortable fabric is soft and stays cool, and how it drapes and how stiff it is both matter. Comfort is not absolute, though \u2014 it has to be judged against the actual job, the climate and the working environment. An excellent office fabric can be a poor field fabric.<\/p>\n

2. Durability<\/h2>\n

Comfort comes first, but durability decides the real cost. A uniform is worn repeatedly for years, so it needs to survive washing and wear without thinning or losing shape. Thickness and construction are the main indicators. Match durability to how often and how hard the uniform will be used \u2014 over-specifying is wasteful, under-specifying is expensive.<\/p>\n

Underrated, and a common source of complaints. If the fabric holds colour poorly, staff cannot maintain their uniforms properly no matter how carefully they follow the instructions, and the whole set looks tired within months.<\/p>\n

Choose colours that stay professional and suit a range of complexions \u2014 navy, grey and black are dependable for a reason.<\/p>\n

4. Ease of washing<\/h2>\n

Uniforms are washed constantly, usually by the wearer. Fabric should release stains readily and not demand special handling. Anything requiring careful treatment will not receive it.<\/p>\n

5. Suitability for the specific work<\/h2>\n

Finally, match the fabric to the actual conditions. Outdoor work needs durability, moisture management and often water repellency. Office work needs comfort in heat and a smart appearance. Kitchens, workshops and clinics each have their own requirements.<\/p>\n

Where one organisation covers several environments, specify by role. It costs less than replacing uniforms that were wrong for the job.<\/p>\n
